Curriculum notes

English Language Arts
This month we are beginning with our basic reading and writing skills. Students will be practicing and showing what they can write and what they like to write about. Students are exploring our classroom library as they read to themselves, with a partner, and to me.
We are beginning our first novel study of the year! We will be reading Matlida by Roald Dahl and after we read the book we may watch the movie and compare! Please save the viewing of the movie until we complete the book.

  • Home reading has begun! Please see the Read Every Day (R.E.D) duo tang to find your new book and more information. Also see FreshGrade for more information.

Math
Students are continuing to find and make patterns. Look for patterns at home and have your student label them for you! We are also looking at numbers and how they are made by looking at our 10's 1's and 100's.

Social Studies
Students are looking at our province and what makes Alberta so special! We are exploring all of the different regions and why there are different regions in Alberta.

Science
What can you not see without? Light! This month we are learning all about different types of light and how shadows are made.
